Immersion blenders with stainless shafts (no plastic food bells)

Stick blenders from bamix, Breville, Cuisinart, KitchenAid, All-Clad, Braun, Hamilton Beach and Vitamix. We score only what goes into the food: the shaft, the bell (blade guard), the blade and the bushing where the blade spindle exits. Most mainstream wands are stainless, but only one maker names every immersed part.

Black Friday / Cyber Monday: every vetted Pass & Partial pick with a live Amazon listing — real price drops only when the listing showed one.

How to read verdicts: Pass metal/glass primary path (silicone seals OK if disclosed). Partial usable if you skip a coated accessory, or plastic remains on lids. Fail plastic or fluoropolymer/nonstick in the normal use path.

Short answer (checked 2026-11-07): a stainless shaft is now normal, even on a $45 stick blender. A fully metal bell confirmed by the maker is not. The only Pass is the Swiss-made bamix SwissLine: bamix publishes the alloy of every immersed part (chrome-plated brass shaft, stainless drive shaft, aluminium blade guard, stainless blades). Among mainstream brands, Cuisinart's Smart Stick CSB-179 comes closest. Its booklet says both the blade and the guard are stainless, but like every other maker here, Cuisinart doesn't name the bushing where the spindle exits the bell.

How we score a stick blender

Want a countertop jar blender instead? See blenders with stainless food-contact jars. For chopping, see why almost no food processor passes.

Not scored: KitchenAid's cordless KHBBV53 (every Amazon color listing showed "Currently unavailable" on 2026-11-07) and the Ninja Foodi Power Mixer CI101/CI100C (Amazon listings currently unavailable; Ninja calls the 9-inch arm stainless with a "built-in pan guard" but doesn't name the guard material). The All-Clad, Braun and Vitamix Amazon titles show the product name rather than a model number; we matched them by Amazon's item details (UPC 010942212300 for All-Clad KZ750D42, model MQ7035 for Braun) and Vitamix's own product name. Prices are Amazon on 2026-11-07 unless a card says otherwise; bamix's is its US store, because the Amazon listing showed unavailable.

Why: Maker's materials FAQ discloses immersed food-contact parts as chrome-plated brass shaft, stainless drive shaft, polished aluminium cutter guard, and stainless blades — all metal. Handle body is PA6 nylon but is not the immersed food path. Food-safe shaft lubricant is disclosed; shaft seal elastomer grade is not named beyond food-safe lubricant language (same class of note as elastomer seals on existing rice passes).

All-Clad · Model KZ750D (KZ750D42)

$130.99 · checked 2026-11-07

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Disclosure.

Why: All-Clad lists the material as stainless steel and says the 9 1/4-inch stainless shaft detaches for cleaning. It doesn't break down the blending head, so the bell, blade and spindle bushing aren't individually named. Metal-first, but not confirmed part by part.

Partial

Braun · Model MQ7035 (MQ7035X)

$109.95 · checked 2026-11-07

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Disclosure.

Why: Braun's MQ7035X data sheet gives the shaft material as stainless steel and its US page calls it a "metal wand". But Braun lists the whole product as "Metal and Plastic" without saying which parts are which, and the ACTIVEBlade flexible spindle and PowerBell Plus parts inside the bell aren't broken down. Cuisinart Smart Stick Variable Speed Hand Blender CSB-179

Partial

Cuisinart · Model CSB-179 (CSB-179P1)

$59.95 · checked 2026-11-07

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Disclosure.

Why: The closest mainstream stick blender to a pass. Cuisinart's own booklet says the fixed blade is stainless and is "partially covered by a stainless guard", and the product copy calls the 8-inch blending shaft stainless steel. So the shaft, bell and blade are all metal per the maker. It stops at partial because Cuisinart doesn't name the bushing/seal where the blade spindle exits the guard, which also sits in your food.

Hamilton Beach 2-Speed Hand Blender with Whisk & Chopping Bowl 59765

Partial

Hamilton Beach · Model 59765

$44.45 · checked 2026-11-07

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Disclosure.

Why: Hamilton Beach says the blending wand and blades are stainless steel. It doesn't name the guard insert or the bushing where the blade spindle exits, and one Amazon owner reports a plastic sleeve around the spindle just inside the guard. Budget metal-wand option, but not a confirmed all-metal path.

Partial

KitchenAid · Model KHBV53 (KHBV53OB Onyx Black)

$69.95 · checked 2026-11-07

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Disclosure.

Why: KitchenAid names a 4-point stainless steel blade on a removable 8-inch blending arm, and Amazon lists the material as stainless steel. But KitchenAid's own manual and product page never say what the bell around the blade is made of, and the included clip-on pan guard (which sits in the food when you use it) has no material listed. Partial: metal blade, unnamed bell and guard.

Fail

Vitamix · Model 5-Speed (067991)

$144.75 · checked 2026-11-07

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Disclosure.

Why: Vitamix's own spec line says the "Wand is stainless with plastic coating on bell". The bell is the part that sits in your soup, so the main food-contact surface around the blade is plastic-coated. That fails our rule even though the wand and blade are stainless.
