Short answer (checked 2026-11-04): if you want an always-hot water dispenser without a nonstick tank, buy one whose maker names an uncoated stainless interior: Zojirushi CD-WHC40 or CD-WGC, Tiger PDZ-A, or the budget Brentwood KT-40BS. Zojirushi and Tiger also state their stainless models are PFAS-free. None is a full Pass because water still passes through an electric pump, spout, level gauge and lid gasket whose materials no maker publishes.
The popular coated models fail: Zojirushi CD-WCC, CD-NAC, CD-LFC and the VE Hybrid CV-JAC (nonstick coated tanks), Tiger PDU-A (Tiger's own disclosure says PFAS were added for "non-stick properties to the inner pot") and Panasonic's "charcoal-coated" NC-EG4000 (the charcoal sits in a fluororesin coating). Zojirushi says its coated boilers are PFOA-free. That is not the same as PTFE-free.
Only need hot water a few times a day? A kettle with a bare stainless interior avoids the pump and gauge entirely. See plastic-free electric kettles and what makes a kettle plastic-free.
Not scored yet: Zojirushi CD-LHC30/40/50 (stainless interior and PFAS-free per zojirushi.com, but no verified Amazon listing), Tatung THWP-40 (Amazon page would not load for verification), and electric samovars (we found no mainstream maker materials disclosure we could verify). Prices are Amazon where Amazon shows one; otherwise the maker's own list price, as marked on each card.

Partial Partial
Aroma Hot Water Central AAP-340SB Air Pot / Water Heater (4 qt)
Partial$79.99 · checked 2026-11-04
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Disclosure.
Why: Aroma's manual calls the tank a "stainless steel water tank" throughout and mentions no coating. Partial because the manual-pump air-pot mechanism, lid and spout materials aren't named, and we could not load Aroma's own product page to confirm the SKU is still in production.
Watch-outs
- Sold by a third-party seller on Amazon; production status unverified (aromaco.com blocked our check)
- Pump/lid materials not named
Brentwood Select KT-40BS Electric Hot Water Dispenser (4.0 L)
Partial$86.99 · checked 2026-11-04
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Disclosure.
Why: A budget stainless-tank option. Brentwood says "full stainless steel interior, concealed heating element and BPA free parts" and names no coating. Partial because the lid, pump and spout plastics aren't identified beyond "BPA free", the steel grade isn't given, and some Amazon reviewers question the build quality.
Watch-outs
- Steel grade and plastic parts not named
- Mixed durability reviews
Tiger Microcomputer Water Boiler & Warmer PDZ-A50U (5.0 L)
Partial$214.99 · checked 2026-11-04
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Disclosure.
Why: Tiger calls this "new" boiler its stainless option next to the coated PDU-A. Tiger advertises a "non-PFAS stainless steel interior lining", and its state-regulations chemical list for the PDZ-A has no PFAS entry (the PDU-A list does). Partial because the lid gasket, pump path and spout materials aren't published.
Watch-outs
- New model: only 1 Amazon rating so far
- Gasket and pump-path materials not named
Sources (3)
- Tiger PDZ-A30U/A40U/A50U product page: non-PFAS stainless steel interior lining; producing country Japan; 1-year warranty
- Tiger state-regulations disclosure (PDU-A lists PFAS, intentionally added for 'non-stick properties to the inner pot'; PDZ-A list has no PFAS)

Zojirushi Micom Water Boiler & Warmer CD-WGC30/40
Partial$204.99 · checked 2026-11-04
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Disclosure.
Why: Same story as the CD-WHC40 at a lower list price: Zojirushi names a rust-resistant stainless steel tank and says all food/beverage-contact areas are free of PFAS (including PTFE and PFOA). Partial because the pump path, spout, level gauge, filter and lid gasket materials aren't named.
Watch-outs
- Amazon listing had no featured offer on 2026-11-04 (third-party sellers only)
- Pump, spout, gauge and gasket materials not named

Zojirushi Micom Water Boiler & Warmer CD-WHC40 (4.0 L)
Partial$175.99 · checked 2026-11-04
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Disclosure.
Why: Zojirushi says the inner tank is rust-resistant stainless steel and that every food/beverage-contact area is free of PFAS (including PTFE and PFOA). That clears the big problem with most boilers. It stops at partial because hot water still runs through an electric pump, spout, level gauge and an inner-lid gasket whose materials Zojirushi doesn't name ("BPA-free" implies some are plastic).
Watch-outs
- Pump, spout, gauge and gasket materials not named
- Some owners report rust spots on the rim
Sources (4)
- Zojirushi CD-WHC40 product page: rust-resistant stainless steel interior; free of PFAS (incl. PTFE, PFOA) and BPA on all food/beverage-contact areas; Made in China

- Zojirushi limited warranty for electrical products (1 year)

Fail Fails
Panasonic Electric Thermo Pot NC-EG4000 (4.0 L)
Fail$129.99 · checked 2026-11-04
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Disclosure.
Why: Marketed for its "bincho-tan charcoal coating", but Panasonic's own description adds "a non-stick coating of diamond fluorine", and the manual says the inner container is "fluoridated" and warns about damaging the "fluororesin covering". That is a fluoropolymer coating, so it fails.
Watch-outs
- "Charcoal coating" is a fluororesin nonstick coating
Tiger Microcomputer Water Boiler & Warmer PDU-A50U (5.0 L)
Fail$184.99 · checked 2026-11-04
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Disclosure.
Why: Tiger's manual calls the inner container "fluoropolymer-coated", and Tiger's own PFAS disclosure says PFAS were intentionally added to "provide non-stick properties to the inner pot". Clear fail. Tiger now sells the stainless PDZ-A as the uncoated alternative.
Watch-outs
- Fluoropolymer-coated tank; PFAS intentionally added per Tiger

Zojirushi Micom Water Boiler & Warmer CD-NAC40/50
Fail$265.99 · checked 2026-11-04
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Disclosure.
Why: Made in Japan, but the inner container is nonstick-coated: the manual labels the tank "(Nonstick Coated)" and warns the "Nonstick Coating may discolor and peel". Fails our no-coating rule.
Watch-outs
- Nonstick-coated tank
Zojirushi Micom Water Boiler & Warmer CD-WCC40 (4.0 L)
Fail$189.99 · checked 2026-11-04
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Disclosure.
Why: The CD-WCC (3,945 Amazon ratings) has a nonstick-coated stainless interior (Amazon copy and the manual's "Nonstick Coating" warnings). Zojirushi says its coated boilers are PFOA-free, which is not the same as PTFE-free. Hot water sits on the coating all day, so it fails our rule. The CD-WHC40 or CD-WGC is the uncoated swap.
Watch-outs
- Nonstick-coated tank (PFOA-free per Zojirushi; fluoropolymer type not named)
Zojirushi Panorama Window Micom Water Boiler CD-LFC30/40/50
Fail$229.99 · checked 2026-11-04
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Disclosure.
Why: The CD-LFC lists an "easy-to-clean nonstick interior" and its manual labels the tank "(Nonstick Coating)". Fails. Its sibling CD-LHC (same Panorama Window body, stainless interior, PFAS-free claim) would be the swap, but we could not find a verified Amazon listing for it yet.
Watch-outs
- Nonstick-coated tank
Zojirushi VE Hybrid Water Boiler & Warmer CV-JAC40/50
Fail$324.99 · checked 2026-11-04
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Disclosure.
Why: Zojirushi's premium vacuum-insulated boiler lists an "easy-to-clean nonstick coated stainless steel interior". Great insulation, but the water still sits on a coating, so it fails.
Watch-outs
- Nonstick-coated tank
